The Bolch Judicial Institute of Duke Law finished the second pilot of a new civics education course for the workplace. The test audience of Duke University communicators attended lunch-and-learn sessions on the rule of law & the history of our courts, judicial decision-making, and civic participation.
The final session, pictured here, was a Q&A session with judges moderated by Melinda Vaughn, Deputy Director of the Bolch Judicial Institute of Duke Law School. Judge Paul W. Grimm, the Institute’s director and a retired federal judge, and Judge Allegra Collins, a judge of the N.C. Court of Appeals and lecturer at Duke Law, answered questions about the courts, judicial independence, judicial selection methods, and even where judges get their robes.
The feedback from the pilot group will help us create a final version to share with the public. We anticipate that being ready in early 2025! Stay tuned by subscribing to updates from the Institute: https://loom.ly/34xrKB8
