Chief Justice thanks Dean David Levi, Duke for work with the courts

Dean David F. Levi, inaugural director of the Bolch Judicial Institute and president of the American Law Institute (ALI), hosted a panel discussion and participated in events at the annual ALI meeting in Washington, D.C., in May. During the event U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, Jr., expressed his appreciation for all Dean Levi and Duke Law have “done for the courts and the law.” The Chief Justice also presented Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg with this year’s Henry J. Friendly Medal.

Levi hosted a separate discussion with Associate Justice Elena Kagan and former U.S. Solicitor General Paul Clement of Kirkland & Ellis during the meeting.

The American Law Institute is the leading independent organization in the United States producing scholarly work to clarify, modernize, and otherwise improve the law. Levi was named ALI president in May 2017.
