In a POLITICO article examining new research on threats to judges and concerns about judicial security, Bolch Judicial Institute Director Kim Mueller, a retired federal judge, emphasizes that addressing the problem requires ensuring those charged with protecting judges have the resources they need.

“One of the issues both [the Brennan and Berkeley-NYU] reports call out is the need for better funding, secure funding, protected funding for the marshals to keep doing that job, particularly for the lower courts,” Mueller said.
