Judge J. Michelle Childs (MJS ’16) confirmed to DC Circuit

Judge J. Michelle Childs, a 2016 graduate of Duke Law School’s Master of Judicial Studies program, was confirmed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit on July 19, 2022. (See this article from Reuters.)

Judge Childs has served as a federal judge on the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina since 2010. She received an LLM in Judicial Studies from Duke Law School in 2016, a JD from the University of South Carolina School of Law, an MA in Personnel and Employment Relations from the University of South Carolina in 1991, and a BA, cum laude, from the University of South Florida in 1988. She currently serves on the Bolch Judicial Institute’s Leadership Council and has served as faculty for the Bolch Judicial Institute’s annual Mass Tort MDL Certificate Course and as a member of the Judicature editorial board.
